August 29/30: “Why I Trust” What trust really is–and isn’t

Join us for a worship service August 29/30, 2010, as Pastor Rich talks to us about what trust is and isn’t. We all know people who declare, “I won’t believe something until I see it for myself!” But is real trust based simply on what we can see, feel, touch, taste or smell? In this message, Pastor Rich asks the question that is essential to the Christian faith. And as he unpacks the answers, we have the opportunity to see what trust really is–and isn’t.

Volunteer Spotlight: Altar Guild

We participate in communion each week. It takes a dedicated team of volunteers to prepare the elements for each service. Volunteers fill the cups, place the wafers, and prepare the altar before Sunday services and other volunteers clean up after services. There are several opportunities to get involved in this rewarding ministry. The time commitment is less than 2 hours per month, making it a great “first serve” opportunity if you have yet to volunteer at Aboite. For more information, contact tama@aboitechurch.org

She will be using the Faith Ink curriculum, which is a complete, parent-involved, small group ministry approach that challenge churches and parents to grow confirmation instruction into confirmation ministry. Events for sixth grade students will be held Sundays at 10:00am, and events for seventh and eighth graders will be held Sunday afternoon from 4:00-6:00pm. August 22/23: “Why I Doubt” The Truth About Doubt

Join us for a worship service August 22/23, 2010, as Pastor Rich talks to us about the truth about doubt. In our self-sufficient society, we’re supposed to know all the answers. And if we don’t, we should certainly never appear that way. After all, doubt is seen as a sign of weakness. But in this message, Pastor Rich reveals the truth about doubt in his own life and shows us how, sometimes, doubt can be an asset to strengthening our faith and our lives.

Volunteer Spotlight: Coffee and Donut Ministry

Many people look forward to coming to church for the fellowship with others before and after service. The work of dedicated volunteers makes it possible for us to enjoy great tasting coffee and donuts during that fellowship. It takes a lot of hands to pick up pastries from Dunkin Donuts, pick up coffee beans from Old Crown, set up and brew coffee for the first worship service, maintain the Café for the second worship service, and to clean up after. We are grateful for their service. There are several opportunities to get involved in this ministry. With a minimal time commitment of 1-2 hours per month, this is a great “first serve” opportunity if you have never volunteered at Aboite. Contact tama@aboitechurch.org for more information about how to get involved in this rewarding ministry.
