Successful High School Mission Trip

Students are gathered at 6:30am, ready to depart on their adventure.

From June 20-29, 2008 twelve members from our Under The Oak high school ministry traveled to Tampa, FL to participate in a mission retreat sponsored by TEAMeffort. They ministered to an inner-city church, helping to run a Vacation Bible School for the local children. This was also a great opportunity for our students to grow closer together and closer in their relationship with God. See all 1,147 photos on our Flickr and watch the slideshow on YouTube.

New Message Series: Beyond Boundaries

Christ came to earth and broke every cultural boundary of the day. Unashamedly, He befriended sinners, loved the unlovable, and healed the broken. His love is radical, liberating, and faithful. He pursues us even in our sinful state. That’s an amazing, beyond boundaries kind of love. We didn’t earn it and we don’t deserve it. Beyond Boundaries takes you into the heart of God to reveal His desire for an intimate relationship with you and to teach you how to love others.

The closing ceremony this evening marked the completion of our annual week-long vacation bible school for children in grades pre-k through fifth. This year, we grew to over one hundred different children attending at least one day, with the average attendance over eighty each day. “Connecting the Body of Christ” Study Series Begins July 13th

Our own Gary Younghans will be teaching the “Connecting the Body of Christ” study series beginning July 13th, 2008 and continuing for four sessions. Classes will be held directly after the worship services, beginning at 12:30pm. A light lunch will be provided, and childcare is available upon request.

The Bible Study “Connecting the Body of Christ” was written to spark thought and discussion among church members regarding the people of God caring for one another in many different ways.

Service Opportunity

On Saturday, July 19th from noon until 6PM, members of the body of Christ from Aboite Lutheran Church will be gathering in town to work on a home owned by Courtney and John Bice. John is a soldier overseas and Courtney is tackling a major remodel on her own. Work to be done includes siding, painting, drywall, and odd jobs. The home will be used for a not-for-profit children’s art studio upon completion. Aboite Lutheran will be serving pizza and drinks. We are so excited about this opportunity to support a fellow congregation member and a U.S. soldier as well as the community at large. See you there! E-mail Robin Atkins for details and to let us know how many helpers you will be bringing:
